Flaxseed
Our organic flaxseed range brings together the oilseed flaxseed grown in the heart of Béarn, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. It is the most complete form of flax: it brings together in a single grain the fatty acids, fibre and protein of the plant. Our seeds are brown, rich in omega-3 ALA, a source of fibre and provide around 20% protein. Now from organic farming, they embody a short and traceable supply chain. To understand everything, read our complete guide to flaxseed.
All our flax food products are 100% vegan, naturally gluten-free and from organic farming.
Our flaxseed is now certified organic: it is grown according to the specifications of organic farming, without synthetic fertilisers or pesticides, on a specific terroir of Béarn, harvested when ripe and then packed locally. Where the oil carries only the fat fraction and the flour mostly fibre and protein, the whole seed brings together all the fractions: that is what makes it the most versatile form of flax.
Brown, our seeds suit every use, from rustic bread to the most delicate dessert: their frank hazelnut note blends as well into a bread dough as into a yoghurt, and their dark speckles add a lovely touch to a light-coloured preparation. Discover the page of our organic flaxseed.
A cook's reflex worth knowing: the husk of the flaxseed is very tough. Whole, it stays closed and releases neither its flavour nor its texture in a preparation. By grinding it just before use (coffee grinder or small blender), you open up its full hazelnut note and get a fine powder that truly blends into doughs and batters. The whole seed, for its part, remains ideal as a topping, for texture and crunch.
Would you rather skip this step? Our kibbled flaxseed offers the seed already cracked, ready to sprinkle.
Ground, flaxseed slips in everywhere: a spoonful in a yoghurt, a porridge, a smoothie, a bread or muffin dough. Mixed with a little water, it forms a gel that serves as a binder or an egg substitute in plant-based cooking. Whole, it decorates salads, breads and mueslis and brings a gourmet crunch. Allow one to two tablespoons a day. Keep whole seeds dry and away from light - they are more stable than seeds already ground, which should be kept cool and used quickly. Find our gourmet ideas in the recipes section.
From field to plate, we make the most of every fraction of flax: the oil for its omega-3, the flour made from the press cake, and the organic seed in its entirety.
